The Cowgirl Art Collective is growing in stages, with each part designed to support both shoppers and makers.


The Online Marketplace

A curated online destination for original Western art, handmade goods, artist-designed products, and creative courses from approved artists and makers. The marketplace will allow more people to discover and support the artists behind the work, whether they can visit Virginia City or not.

The Western Emporium

Our retail location in historic Virginia City, Nevada, brings together original art, handmade goods, jewelry, leatherwork, home décor, furniture, gifts, and one-of-a-kind pieces from talented Western artists and makers.


Workshops & Creative Experiences

Artist-led workshops in Virginia City offer the opportunity to learn hands-on skills, create something meaningful, and spend time in an encouraging space built around creativity and connection.


Artist Community & Opportunities

The Collective creates opportunities for artists to sell, teach, collaborate, connect, and grow. As the platform expands, artists may participate through the retail shop, online marketplace, courses, workshops, events, boxes, retreats, and other curated opportunities.

Why Virginia City?

Virginia City is one of the most iconic Western towns in the country, rich in history, character, creativity, and Old West charm.

Its historic boardwalks, storefronts, museums, events, dining, lodging, and steady flow of visitors make it a natural home for a Collective built around Western art and craftsmanship.

Located within easy driving distance of Reno and the Reno–Tahoe International Airport, Virginia City offers artists, workshop guests, and visitors the opportunity to experience the Collective as part of a larger Western destination.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Sierra, founder of the Cowgirl Art Collective and the Western upholsterer and educator behind The Rusted Roan.

After years of building a creative business through custom upholstery, online education, workshops, and working alongside other artists, I saw how many talented Western makers were creating incredible work without enough meaningful opportunities to be discovered.

The Cowgirl Art Collective grew from a bigger vision: to build a place where artists could sell their work, teach what they know, reach new customers, and create additional income without losing the craftsmanship and individuality that make their work valuable.

What began as a physical retail space in Virginia City is growing into a larger platform that connects Western artists with shoppers, students, and one another, both in person and online.

I believe the West is filled with extraordinary creative women whose work deserves to be seen, valued, and supported. The Collective is being built to help make that happen.
